Teen Mentoring Program
Snacks…making friends…having fun…happens every week in the Teen Mentoring Program. This program, for middle school and high school students, offers friendship, fun, food and guidance with volunteer mentors! The goal of this program is to provide a positive environment and friendship while modeling positive life skills with the students so the students involved do not have to walk the confusing path of middle school and high school alone.

About the Mentoring Program
Volunteer mentors and students 7th-12th grades meet weekly after school from 3pm-5pm at UFM Community Learning Center and offsite locations. Activities are planned each week to provide guidance and build relationships through discussion, games, food and fun activities. The desire of the program is to provide a safe, healthy and supportive atmosphere for learning and navigating adolescence with others in a group setting. High school students and middle school students meet on different days.
Transportation is provided by UFM after school and then home after group. Days of group meetings depend on semester. Contact UFM for specific days for group you are interested in.
Background
The UFM Teen Mentoring Program was started in 1997 as a way to offer a structured program of support and life skills to youth in grades 7-12. The goals of the project are to provide a safe, supportive and consistent environment for teens to learn positive life skills and to focus on primary prevention intervention activities.
The program is site-based and structured to address common teen issues through one-on-one, small group and large group activities.
Youth are encouraged to share their ideas and opinions as they also learn and practice positive coping strategies.
